Recently kashrus concerns affecting several types of beverages have come to light. The following is our Vaad's beverage policy:

Acceptable without certification:

· Beers and Ales

· Blended Scotch Whiskey

· Bourbon * (except for Elisha Craig, Evan Williams and Hevan Hill)

· Canadian Whiskeys  (except for Canadian Club Classic)

· Gin  (not Sloe Gin)

· Rye *

· Single Malt Scotch **

· Tequila (the worm found in certian tequilas is certianly not kosher)

· Vodka *

* no flavors added

**Certain single malts are not acceptable due to the recognizable influence of the sherry casks in which they are aged. Some examples of such are: Balverie Doublewood, Glengoyne, Glenmorangie -15 year old and McAllen.

Not acceptable unless certified:

· Flavored Hard Liquors (i.e. lemon flavored Vodka)

· Wine and all wine products such as Port, Vermouth, Brandy, and Cognac.

· All wine served in VHQ certified establishments must be "Mevushal"
